Nagamootoo takes two wickets in losing effort

Former Guyana and West Indies leg-spinner Mahendra Nagamootoo took two wickets but his efforts were not enough to lead Moosai Sports to victory over Clico Preysal in the Sunday League limited overs series on Saturday in Trinidad & Tobago (T&T).

Batting first, Moosai Sports made 202 all out in 50 overs. Nagamootoo made 26, while Shivanand Moosai scored an unbeaten 44. Nagamootoo then grabbed 2-26 but Preysal responded with 206 for five in 46.4 overs to take the win.

Leading them to victory was former T&T batsman Shazam Babwah with an unbeaten 88.

Elsewhere, left hander Nicholas Sookdeosingh slammed an even 100 to lead PowerGen to victory by nine runs over W-Connection Wanderers.

Batting first PowerGen made 232 for eight off their 50 overs. In addition to Sookdeosingh, Sri Lanka-born Ishan Muttlich also batted well and rattled up 75. Wanderers in reply made 223 all out with David Livingston scoring 53, Navin Stewart 47 and Narine Bideshi 34.

The pick of the bowlers was Samuel Badree with four wickets for 56 runs.

Meanwhile, at Point Lisas, TTEC scored 260-9 from their 50 overs with Kwesi Blackburn scoring 69, Manoj Sirju contributing 57 and Kevon Cooper chipping in with 38. In reply SIS Central Sports made 249 all out from 49.2 overs.

Alex Antoine (68), Guyanese Troy Cornelius (52) and Miguel Heeraman (30) were the principal scorers while Farrel Jugmohan snared 4-45 as his team won by 11 runs.
