BCB congratulates Universal DVD Titans on their victory

The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Berbice Universal DVD Titans on being crowned champions of the inaugural Hits & Jams Jam Zone 20/20 Tournament.

In a press release the VCV stated that the victory continued the ongoing success story of Berbice cricket over the past four years and credited the result to dedication, team unity and a united purpose to be the best in Guyana.

The BCB also saluted manager of the team, Pastor Mark Lyte, coach Adrian Amsterdam and captain Royston Crandon for a job well done and the entire team for making the ancient county proud.

The BCB stated that senior players like Assad Fudadin, Esuan Crandon, Devendra Bishoo, Jonathan Foo and Veerasammy Permaul, all led by example while the young `guns’ like Richard Ramdeen, Anthony Bramble, Rajiv Ivan, Devon Clements and Eugene La Fleur also contributed to the success.

The board stated that the team was fully prepared for this tournament and attributed the success to an elite training programme and specially arranged practice matches.

The BCB further stated that all of the hard work by the players and members of the board on and off the cricket field has paid off and has brought positive returns. They stated also that the board and the players co-exist as one big family and their motto is “all for one and one for all.”

In other comments the BCB stated that the board was criticised for its refusal to field foreign players and as a result, the team was viewed as underdogs for the tournament. It was widely known that players came from as far as London, Port-of-Spain, Bridgetown and Kingston but their team of locally-bred players won.

Meanwhile, the BCB also congratulated Hits & Jams for hosting a well-organized tournament and thanked them for inviting the county to participate.

They also saluted and thanked the thousands of fans who in true Berbician fashion, supported their boys at the National Stadium.

Special thanks also went out to the Management and Staff of Universal DVD Club for their investment in Berbice cricket as the official sponsor of the team. The board also stated that cricket in Berbice  was on the move and reassured all the stakeholders that the progress would continue.
