The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Scotia Bank Cricket Academy will commence its 3rd annual cricket academy on August 29 at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
Sixty of the county’s most promising junior cricketers are scheduled to take part.
The academy will be in session at the Area ‘H’ Ground in Rose Hall Town and would be conducted by four coaches, headed by senior coach Julian Moore.
Chairman of the Special Events Committee Hilbert Foster stated that the main objectives of the academy are to improve the skills of the young cricketers, instill in them the importance of education and discipline, to mould them into proper role models for their peers and to be ambassadors for Berbice.
Several indoor lectures have also been arranged on topics of importance to the cricketers. These include History and Structure of Berbice Cricket, Personal Hygiene, Rules of Cricket, HIV/AIDS, and Drug Abuse.
The following cricketers are asked to report to the Area ‘H’ Ground on Monday from 08.00 hours in proper cricketing attire and gears:
