Cotton Tree, Albion, LBI A, Success, Corneila Ida advance

The Muslim Youth Organization of Guyana in association with Raf’s Variety Store, First Annual Hajjin Zeleena Rafeek Memorial Countrywide Inter-Jamaat 10/10 Knockout Softball Cricket Tournament continued last Sunday  at Chesney Ground and CPCE Ground.

The results are as follows:

Fyrish A vs Cotton Tree
– Chesney Ground

Cotton Tree won the toss and sent Fyrish A in to bat. Fyrish A amassed 129 for 7 wickets with Imran Ally scoring 47 (6×5 and 4×1) and supported by Nadeem Khan with 14 runs.

Bowling for Cotton Tree was Inshan Ali and Wazir Mohamed taking one wicket each for 13 and 31 runs respectively. Cotton Tree in reply made their target in 9.3 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Shazam Ali made 31 not out (6×4) and Feroze Ahmad made 25 (6×1 and 4×2). Bowling for Fyrish A saw Hafeez Sakoor claiming 3 wickets for 18 runs and Safraz Sakoor with 2 wickets for 26 runs.

Albion vs Rose Hall
– Chesney Ground

Rose Hall won the toss and sent Albion in to bat. They scored a huge 124 for the loss of 6 wickets with Imran Khan 49 not out (6×4 and 4×2) and Shazim Mobin with 13 being the top-scorer. Ibrahim Lawrence with 2 for 18 had the best bowling figures for Rose Hall.

In reply Rose Hall was rooted for 40 runs in 6.5 overs. Altaf Ibrahim and Imran Khan were the main destroyers with 4 wickets for 12 runs and 3 wickets for 3 runs respectively.

LBI A vs Land of Canaan
– CPCE Ground

LBI A batted first and made a huge 156 for 4 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Safraz Ali made 58, Richard Dowlatram made 29 runs and Reyaz Ali made 25 not out. Bowling for Land of Canaan was led by Shazam Ali with 3 wickets for 29 runs. Land of Canaan in reply crumbled for 67 all out on 9.5 overs with Hassan Ali making 13 runs. Nine of the Land of Canaan batsmen were victims of runouts and hence only one wicket was caught and the bowler to take that wicket was Shoaib Khan who had figures of 1 for 5 from 2 overs.

Queenstown vs Success
– CPCE Ground

Queenstown batted first and made 119 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs with Abdullah Roberts 53 not out and Majeed Khan 27. Bowling for Success was Basheer Saffie with 1 for 35 and Shaiyam Razack with 1 for 13 runs. Success in reply made their target in 9.5 overs with Asif Singh making 26 and Zahir Persaud making 34 not out. Majeed Khan and Javed Kayume with 2 wickets each for 12 and 20 runs respectively had the best bowling figures for Queenstown.

Corneila Ida vs Farm C
– CPCE Ground

Farm C batted first and made 95 for 9 in their 10 overs. Ricky Sargeant made 25 and Yunus Yusuf made 16 were the top scorers. The main wicket-takers for Corneila Ida were Imtiaz Hack and Aquib Hussain with 3 and 4 wickets respectively. Corneila Ida made their target in 9.5 overs for the loss of 8 wickets with Aquib Hussain making 25 and Imtiaz Hack 18 runs.

Farm C’s bowling was upheld by Budhan Baksh and Imtiaz Mohamed who snatched 3 wickets each for 12 and 18 runs in total

Meanwhile the quarterfinals are set for Sunday at the Muslim Youth Organization Ground, Woolford Avenue, where the final 8 teams vying for a place in the semifinals will do battle. The semifinals, finals and third place will take place on Saturday, October 15 at the MYO Ground under lights. Those upcoming matches would be the first time the MYO will be having the finals under lights.
