Inter-zone under-19 tournament starts this weekend in Berbice

The Junior Selection Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) announced the names of the players who  were selected for the 2011 BCB/ Diamond Fire & General Insurance Company inter-zone under-19 two-day tournament starting  this weekend at various venues.

According to a press release, the tournament will consist of teams from West Berbice, New Amsterdam/ Canje, Lower Corentyne, Central and Upper Corentyne areas.

Shemaine Campbelle

Public Relations Officer of the BCB, Hilbert Foster disclosed that the tournament will start with New Amsterdam/Canje travelling to Upper Corentyne to play the host while West Berbice will play defending champions, Lower Corentyne at the Port Mourant Cricket Ground.

Foster stated that the Berbice Cellink under-19 team will be selected after the tournament and  the first innings would be restricted to 65 overs per side to ensure a result.

National under-19 player Dominic Rikhi will lead Lower Corentyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Central/Upper Corentyne, Joemal La Fleur, New Amsterdam/Canje and Deveshwari Prashad, West Berbice.

Teams: – Central/Upper Corentyne:  Trevor Thomas, Parmanand Narine, Viendra Gooniah, Shemaine Campbelle (captain) Surendra Kissoonlall, Andy Mohan (wicket keeper), Devin Baldeo, Naem Yacoob, Akeem Bowling, Tarrick Chaitram, Tameshwar Ramoutar, Sean Persaud, Clinton Pestano and Inte Adams.

New Amsterdam/Canje:  Shimron Hetmyer, Devendra Jainabi, Romario De Jonge, Kevin Ramdeen, Linden Austin, Joemal La Fleur (captain), Kevin Leitch, Jamal Henry, Mark Jackman, Andel De Jonge, Tregon Henry, Cledwin Cort, Suresh Dhanai, Vidal Crandon (wicket keeper),Kris Sulker and Waqar Mc Kenzie.

West Berbice:  Quacy Mc Pherson, Sherwin Peterkin, Saldar Harripaul, Renalto Grovesnor, Kurt Griffith, Deveshwari Prashad (captain), Waqar Hassan, Grisean Grant, Nick Ramsaroop, Akram Rahaman, Gerald Moonsammy, Raynel Frank, Royston Wade and Parmanand Ramdhan.

Lower Corentyne:  Dominic Rikhi (captain), Surujnarine Kandasammy, Veerapen Permaulm Sasenarine Ernest, Shailendra Shameer, Shawn Pereira, Loyydel Lewis, Collis Cort (wicket keeper), Sharmindra Hardial, Gudakesh Motie, Boughnarine Persaud, Avinash Wajid, Jamal Jarvis and Sharaz Ramcharran.
