Miss India Guyana, Bollywood Divas Mega Concert now on this month

The Bollywood Divas Mega Concert is now listed as one of the three biggest events scheduled for this month, which is Tourism Awareness Month, and according to the organizers, it is aimed at offering entertainment to all Guyanese.

The announcement of the delay came on October 29, the date that the Miss India Guyana pageant was scheduled for. Artistes who were expected to perform at the concert the following day were to make appearances at the pageant and also to judge the event.

The new dates were given as November 18 and 19 when the pageant and concert will be hosted respectively. “Artistes had a setback with their musicians not getting in-transit visas. This has been corrected and they will be here for the show on the third weekend of November,” the organizers said.

“Our show is not an elections-related show but while some might have expressed concerns about its closeness, we don’t see the need to worry,” organizer, Chandini Rambalack, told The Scene.

These new dates, she explained, were only chosen based on when the musicians are expected to receive their visas, which will only be valid for a short period of time.

Both events, the organizer stated, will be bigger and better since everything is now in place and an entirely new stage performance is expected for the first time in Guyana. “A real Bollywood performance,” is expected she said.

“The lighting effects will be a whole new thing for [the] Guyanese audience. This is something that Guyana has never seen before since for Bollywood shows, the lighting effects are normally dazzling colours and lots of lighting,” she explained.

According to Chandini, the Miss India Guyana contestants also are quite happy about the delay since they now have an extended period to have their performances perfected. “Training will continue as there is always a say, everything happens for a reason and there is never enough time to make things perfect,” she said.

The contestants will continue their charity work with visitation to orphanages where they will donate food, distribute toys and spend time with the children. This was thought to be fit since they have visited the Palms already and have spent time with the elderly who also enjoyed the food. “We have promised them also that we will revisit in the future,” Chandini said.

“The pageant also will be very big in terms of stage, lighting, props, atmosphere, and not forgetting the company of Bollywood stars,” she added.
