Deal signed between gov’t Region 10 on tariffs, other issues

    Agreement between the Government of Guyana and Region # 10On this 21st day of August 2012 the Government of Guyana and Region 10 hereby agree to the following: i)          That the situation of Electricity Tariffs in Linden will remain at the pre-July 1st 2012 rates and the implementation of a future tariff regime in Linden will await due consideration of the findings and recommendations of the Technical Team.

Linden deal signed

The agreement between the government and the Region Ten delegation regarding the Linden situation was earlier this evening signed after the contentious clause in the Terms of Reference for the Commission of Inquiry was dealt with earlier in the day.

T&T’s vote at OAS meeting queried

Signing of Linden pacts hits hurdle

The non-completion of the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the July 18 Linden protestors shooting yesterday resulted in the Region Ten delegation refusing to  sign the list of agreements reached with the government last Friday.

NAACIE workers halt strike

Technical and clerical workers at Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) estates around the country suspended their strike yesterday and returned to work, ahead of formal talks between their union, the National Association of Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Employees (NAACIE), and the corporation’s board later this week.
