Abigail McDonald is the winner of the just concluded Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) open tournament played on Sunday at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
McDonald won five of the six games she played her only defeat coming against Leon Belony in round two. She was able to secure wins against Grace Hercules, Maurice Munroe, Moen Gafoor, Michael Benjamin and James Krakowsky.
Second was Belony with four wins against Michael Orlando, McDonald, Krakowsky and Munroe and losses to Gafoor and Hercules.
Gafoor, also with four wins and two losses, finished third.
Gafoor picked up wins against Julian Skeete, Wayne Cave, Belony and Hercules but lost to McDonald and Krakowsky.
The association’s next competition will take place September 30 at the same venue.
