Police announce new divisional postings

Assistant Commissioner of Police Deryck Josiah will now head “B” Division (Berbice), according to divisional postings released by the police force yesterday.

The new postings are effective from today and affect all divisions except “A” and “G.”

Josiah, who was in command of “C” Division, is replacing retiring Berbice Commander Steve Merai.

Assistant Commissioner David Ramnarine, who was previously in command of “E&F” Division, will take charge of “C” Division, the release said. Also, Senior Superintendent Christopher Griffith, who was second-in-command of “B” Division, will be serving as Divisional Commander of “D” Division. And Senior Superintendent Clifton Hicken, who was previously the Officer-in-Charge of the Tactical Services Unit (TSU), has taken the position of Divisional Commander of “E&F” Division.

Serving as TSU’s Officer-in-Charge will be Senior Superintendent Linden Alves, who was formerly second-in-command of “A” Division. “D” Division’s previous commander, Dale Alves, has been posted as second-in-command of “A” Division.

From being second-in-command of “C” Division, Senior Superintendent Eric Bassant has been posted to “B” Division, where he will again serve as second-in-command. In addition, Senior Superintendent Owen Trotz has been moved from second-in-command of “E&F” Division to second-in-command of “C” Division. Meanwhile, Superintendent Lawrence Kissoon has been posted as second-in-command of “E&F” Division.
