According to a police source, Banu’s body was discovered by the man at around 15:00 hrs and when the police arrived they found her dentures and wrist watch outside the apartment, which indicated that there may have been a scuffle before banu even entered the apartment. Upon entering the bottom flat, the police saw that the woman’s stockings, pants and underwear were below her knees, her top was pulled up and a cloth was around her throat.

Banu’s brother, Mohammed Haniff, who is holidaying in Guyana from Canada, said she was his only sister. Haniff said he received a message at 4 pm on Sunday that she had died and when he arrived at her home, he saw his sister in a “deplorable” state.

The grieving man said his sister’s death came as a shock and she did not deserved to die like that.

He said he is perturbed about it and hopes that she gets justice soon.

Banu leaves to mourn her four children, all of whom reside overseas, grandchildren and two brothers along with other relatives.
