Gunmen rob owner, staff of Little Rock Hotel and TV station

Gunmen launched an attack on the Little Rock Hotel and Television Station at Lot 6 Vrymen’s Erven, New Amsterdam, Berbice on Friday night, escaping with cash, jewellery and other items valued in excess of $1 million.

According to reports, the attack started just before midnight on Friday when a man walked into the hotel’s bar and ordered a soft drink. After being served he walked outside and then two other men, who were masked and armed with handguns, ran in.

One of them accosted proprietrix Pearl Dindyal called Pearl Christie, demanding cash and jewellery. The woman said she handed over $200,000 and the jewellery she was wearing.

The other bandit assaulted the security guards, Peter Sulker, 60; and Rudolph Outar, 70, gunbutting them before herding them into the bar and putting them to lie on the floor.

Vinesh Dindial a supervisor at Little Rock and Khemraj Lallbeharry, a driver were confronted next. Dindial sustained an injury to his hand and shoulder while being relieved of a cellular phone, a gold ring valued $70,000, a watch valued $12,000 and cash totalling $187,000.He was treated at the New Amsterdam Hospital. Lallbeharry was robbed of  a gold ring, a Blackberry  phone and a gold chain.

The bandits then fled in the direction of Angoy’s Avenue. The police were notified and investigations are continuing.
