Brazilian miner dies in Port Kaituma ATV crash

Police say that at about 1000h yesterday, Brazilian miner Joaodo Deus Silva, 46 years of Port Kaituma, NWD, was driving an ATV along the roadway at Jonestown, Port Kaituma,  when he lost control of the vehicle which turned over several times.

As a result, police said that Silva and the pillion rider Winston Bernard, 22 years of Port Kaituma suffered  injuries.  They were taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital where Silva was pronounced DOA, while Bernard was treated and sent away.

Investigations are in progress. There have been a number of fatal ATV accidents recently.
