Man of unsound mind kills one, injures two in Jamaica

(Jamaica Gleaner) A man believed to be of unsound mind reportedly used a pitchfork to viciously attack three persons in Clear Spring, Portland this morning.

The attack left one man dead and two women injured, one of whom is now in critical condition at the Port Antonio hospital.

The dead man has been identified as Anthony Royes.

According to the police, Mr Royes was on his way to church when he stopped to have a conversation with the man believed to be of unsound mind. However, the police say without warning, Mr Royes was attacked and stabbed repeatedly with a pitchfork the man was carrying.

The man then reportedly used the weapon to attack Ruth Anderson and Nesdee Wilson who were standing nearby. Miss Wilson was stabbed in the left arm while Miss Anderson was stabbed in the neck and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The man was taken into custody by the police who are now trying to find the murder weapon.
