Bartician critical after motorcycle crash

Well-known Bartica resident Conan Belle was last evening in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following a motorcycle accident at the mining community yesterday afternoon.

Reports are that some time after 5 pm yesterday, Belle, said to be in his 20s, was riding his CBR motorcycle along First Street, Bartica when he collided with a pile of scrap metal. He sustained severe injuries to his head, torso and feet and was rushed to the Bartica Hospital in a critical state.

He was later transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital via Parika and arrived in the city around 11 last evening.

According to a resident, Belle and his friends would converge at a section of the community and perform stunts on their motorcycles. He said yesterday afternoon was no different and the young man was earlier performing several stunts along First Street.

He said Belle was riding along the roadway when he lost control of the bike and slammed into the pile of scrap metal. The Second Avenue resident’s motionless body was picked up and rushed to the hospital in the area and sources said that he lost a considerable amount of blood.

At the GPH, the young man’s condition was listed as critical and hospital sources said he had sustained severe injuries to his brain.
