$15,000 bail each for three youth accused of robbery

Magistrate Allan Wilson granted three young men $15,000 bail each after they pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery when they yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Jamaal Letlow, 18, of John Fernandes Squatting Area, East Ruimveldt, along with two East Bank Demerara teens were charged with robbing Ramsarran (only name given) of $8,000 on February 25.

No facts were presented about the case; however, the prosecution objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offence.

The prosecution also submitted that if granted their pre-trial liberty, the three accused are likely to commit similar offences.

Before handing down his ruling, the magistrate asked the defendants if they thought “it is worth it for $8,000?” Letlow responded by saying, “I does work hard fuh my money to mine meh mudda.”

They were ordered to return to court on March 16.
