Guyanese woman held in South Africa over cocaine in laptops

A Guyanese woman is among three persons who are to appear in a South African court next week after she allegedly attempted to smuggle cocaine into that country concealed in three laptops  on a flight out of Brazil.

According to timeslive.co.za  the three suspected drug mules will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court next week. They were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport over the weekend  for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs with a total value of about South African 1.5 million rand into the country.

The report said that last Saturday Guyanese Dawn Whelinena Sampson arrived on a plane from Sao Paulo, Brazil. She was searched, and found carrying three laptops.

“Police found just under three kilograms of cocaine concealed inside the three laptops with a total value of approximately R1 million” the report said.
