GUY 208/5 off 79 overs & 290 vs T&T 349

(Trinidad Express) It was an interesting contest that did not deserve such a premature end.

Thank you for spending the past four days with us. We hope you enjoyed our LIVE coverage and we look forward to future updates during the rest of the season. Goodbye.

END OF PLAY: That’s it ladies and gentlemen. The rain has brought a premature end to this contest. The captains agree that because of the rain delay an outright result is highly unlikely, so they settle for a draw.

Adrian Barath was named Man-of-the-Match for his first innings knock of 114

T&T picked up six points for claiming first innings while Guyana gets three for avoiding an outright loss.

T&T’s BOWLING: Gabriel 18-2-56-3, Emrit 14-8-19-1, Cooper 6-0-24-0, Kantasingh 10-1-26-0, Kanhai 16-5-42-1, Khan 15-4-35-0.

UPDATE: The rain has stopped and the sun is back out. A fair amount of water has settled on the covers so the groundstaff will have some work to do before play can be restarted.

UPDATE: Tea break is officially over but there’s no play right now due to a drizzle that started during the tea interval. It’s pretty overcast and gloomy and if these conditions persist we may very well see an early end to the match.

AT TEA: GUY 208/5 off 79 overs (Barnwell 6*, Chanderpaul 14*)

It’s tea time and while the players and umpires are heading in the covers are coming out as it has gotten pretty dark and overcast at the Oval. A precautionary measure by the groundstaff.

After 77 overs: GUY 202/5 (Chanderpaul 13*, Barnwell 1*)

Emrit is on song this over. He had Barnwell nibbling at one just outside off-stump that failed to get an edge. Next ball up barnwell survives a confident LBW appeal. Good bowling by Emrit as he had the batsman guessing during the over. Guyana’s lead is 143.

After 75 overs: GUY 196/5 (Barnwell 0*, Chanderpaul 9*)

The two bowling changes have resulted in two wickets for T&T. Gabriel at the Brian Lara end got Sarwan and Emrit at the Media Centre end accounted for Fudadin. It probably questionable as to why Emrit did not make these changes earlier as the spinners were not troubling the batsmen.

WICKET: Fudadin c J. Mohammed b Emrit 108. GUY 195/5

The bowling change at the Media Centre end is a successful one. Emrit gets Fudadin to play a half-hearted drive and the ball slices off the leading edge and ends up in the lap of Jason Mohammed at gully. A very good knock by Fudadin, one which would probably stave off defeat for Guyana.

After 72 overs: GUY 195/4 (Chanderpaul 8*, Fudadin 108*)

Gabriel is getting to the ball to come back in to the left-handed Chanderpaul but it’s coming back in late and the batsman is picking up the line early and allowing it to go through to the keeper.

After 70 overs: GUY 192/4 (Fudadin 105*, Chanderpaul 8*)

Fudadin brings up his hundred with a glance off his legs. Gabriel bowls another one on his legs and he repeats the shot to pick up another boundary. Good batting by Fudadin. Poor line by Gabriel. Fudadin’s ton came off 105 deliveries in 127 minutes.

After 69 overs: GUY 184/4 (Chanderpaul 8*, Fudadin 97*)

Chanderpaul gets off the mark first delivery he faces with a single to cover. He then sweeps Khan fine for a boundary to a ball that was pitched on his legs

WICKET: Sarwan c Emrit b Gabriel 41. GUY 175/4

Gabriel gets the breakthrough. He pitched up one just outside offstump and induced Sarwan into the drive. The batsman did not get it with a full flow of the bat and only succeeded in picking out Emrit at cover who accepts the catch. Chanderpaul strides out to join Fudadin.

After 66 overs: GUY 171/3 (Sarwan 39*, Fudadin 94*)

Shannon Gabriel is brought into the attack from the Brian Lara end to replace Aneil Kanhai. His first delivery is smashed for four by Sarwan. The batsmen have made batting look quite easy on a wicket that’s not offering much to the bowlers.

After 65 overs: GUY 167/3 (Fudadin 94*, Sarwan 35*)

Fudadin survived a loud appeal for a stumping by Gibran Mohammed. He was a long way forward to one that beat the outside edge and Mohammed was quick in removing the bails. The umpire ruled that the batsman was in.

After 63 overs: GUY 162/3 (Sarwan 31*, Fudadin 93*)

The fourth wicket pair have put together a partnership worht 75 runs. It is turning out to be a very crucial one as T&T are unable to make further inroads since the fall of Deonarine midway through the first session this morning.

After 59 overs: GUY 155/3 (Fudadin 92*, Sarwan 25*)

Fudadin has been playing a very solid knock and is just eight away from a well deserved ton. This pair is doing all within their will to ensure Guyana does not suffer an outright loss.

POST LUNCH SESSION: GUY 147/3 off 54 overs (Sarwan 24*, Fudadin 85*)

Fudadin has picked up where he left off at lunch and is just 15 away from a regional hundred. T&T really need to get a few quick wickets. The spin pair of Kanhai and Khan are operating. No sing of Shannon gabriel in the attack.

AT LUNCH: GUY 137/3 off 49 overs (Sarwan 23*, Fudadin 76*)

The morning session went Guyana’s way as they added a hundred and six runs to their overnight score while losing the solitary wicket of Deonarine. Their lead is now 78 but they would be more interested in batting out the remaining sessions to avoid an outright defeat.

After 47 overs: GUY 135/3 (Fudadin 75*, Sarwan 22*)

Fudadin is motoring towards a century while T&T are in desperate need of a wicket or two in order to peg the visitors back. A wicket befroe lunch will be a huge motivating factor for T&T.

After 43 overs: GUY 129/3 (Fudadin 69*, Sarwan 22*)

Kantasingh was not troubling the batsmen at all this morning and was replaced by Imran Khan at the Media Centre end.

Khan delivered one short and going down the leg-side. Fudadin pulls it down to the fine-leg boundary.

After 41 overs: GUY 120/3 (Fudadin 63*, Sarwan 19*)

Fudadin is really looking good at the moment. He has been quite harsh on Kantasingh, punishing anything short or too full. He looks set for a big score here.

After 40 overs: GUY 115/3 (Fudadin 59*, Sarwan 19*)

Sarwan and Fudadina re looking quite comfrotable and have stepped up the scoring since the fall of Deonarine’s wicket. They have had no problem coping with the bowling of Kantasingh.

Guyana’s lead is now 56 having erased the first innings deficit of 59.

UPDATE: Play started at 9.30 am this morning and Guyana have progressed from their overnight score of 31/2 to 109/3 after 38 overs with Fudadin 56* and Sarwan 16*. They lost overnight batsman Narsingh Deonarine in the 34th over, caught by Emrit off the bowling of Kanhai for 23.
