Man fined for threatening nephew

Devon Duggin was fined $15,000 on Friday for threatening his nephew.

Duggin, who appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him. He claimed that his nephew, Ervin Pile, was responsible for the altercation between them and he was only reacting to the situation.

Duggin stated that he tries to keep the peace, as he is on a bond with another family member.

Pile, however, told the court that he is constantly threatened by his uncle.  Duggin was given until March 30 to pay the fine or serve a three-week prison sentence.
