A Guyana Power and Light (GPL) temporary employee sustained a severely burnt back after being knocked onto a transformer on Thursday last at Houston, East Bank Demerara.
According to a relative, 37-year old Earl Langhorne of Sophia was making some final preparations at the site where he was working as his boss was about to visit. In the process of doing so he was accidentally hit by a gate and fell onto the transformer and was shocked. His entire back was burnt.
He was subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted to the Burn Care Unit. He is expected to undergo surgery today.
