Woman accused of lying to get new passport

A woman who was accused of making a false statement for the purpose of obtaining a new passport was yesterday put on $75,000 bail by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry when she appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. On September 21, 2009  at the Central Immigration and Passport Office, Georgetown, twenty-two-year-old Fazia Khan for the purpose of procuring a new passport allegedly made  a false statement, that is to say she signed to a written declaration that she is Wareshare Dias and that she was never issued with or previously held a passport knowing same to be false.

Khan’s next court hearing is fixed for April 23 in Court Six.
