Lancaster man chopped off wife’s thumb – court hears

A man was yesterday remanded to prison after allegedly chopping off the right thumb of his wife who is a Special Constable attached to the Guyana Police Force.

Maxwell Phillips, of Lancaster Village, Corentyne, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Whim Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with felonious wounding.

The court was told that the accused on March 9, chopped off the thumb of Alicia Edwards-Phillips.
