Police still probing shooting of man near popular drinking spot

The police say that they are still conducting investigations into the incident in which a  man was shot in the left shoulder by two armed men who robbed his brother in the vicinity of the White Castle Fish Shop on Hadfield Street Monday evening.

Hampton Scott of Lot 18 Supply, East Bank Demerara is still a patient at  the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he underwent surgery to have a bullet removed from his left arm.

The incident occurred around 9:00 pm when Scott’s brother, overseas-based Guy-anese Richard Scott stepped out of the fish shop on Hadfield Street to make a phone call and was confronted by two men. He was relieved of his jewellery valued over $100,000, two Blackberry cell phones and about $40,000. He said his brother saw what transpired and tried to intervene and one of the men fired a shot which hit his brother.

The police were on mobile patrol in the area and heard the gunshot and responded immediately but were unable to apprehend the men who had already escaped.
