Bandits cart off millions in Best Village robbery

Police say that at about 1930h yesterday, sales clerk Vela Wong, 34 years; driver Taij Singh, 57 years; and porter Gerald Wong, 64 years, who are all employed with a businessman at Best Village, Vreed-en-Hoop, WCD, were held up by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Police say that the perpetrators tied up the three victims who were at the businessman’s residence at Best Village, and then ransacked the home and took away $3 million, $2,000 Cdn; $3,000 US, along with a licensed .32 pistol and ammunition, jewellery and a cell phone and escaped.

Investigations are in progress.
