St Lucia PM denies cancer rumours

St Lucia Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony has sought to dispel widespread rumours that he is receiving treatment for cancer, the Caribbean Media Corporation has reported.

“I am lost at to how the rumour started, but I first heard of it after last general elections. I am not sure why someone would have started this, but that is not so, I am fine and in good health,” he said on local television recently during an interview highlighting his administration’s first 100 days in office.

Following last November 28th’s general election there were rumours that Anthony, who led his St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) back into office after a five year stint in opposition, was suffering from prostate cancer after former foreign affairs minister Rufus Bousquet  admitted publically that he was suffering from it
