Multi-million dollar modifications to prep Clico building for GRA

The Guyana Revenue Authority’s designated new offices at the former Clico building on Camp Street, in Georgetown, will soon undergo hundreds of millions of dollars in modifications to make it fit to house agency divisions.

The National Procurement and Tender Administration Board received six bids for the modification project, which the engineer’s estimate priced at $253,997,117.

Bidding were G. Bovell Construction ($213,004,132), Andrew Howard Construction Service ($220,599,302), Pacific Service System ($424, 849,865), Cummings Contracting and Construction Services ($180, 179, 297), Aura Engineering Company ($215,112,370) and Cummings Electrical Company ($227,159,135).

The building, located on Camp Street between Quamina and Middle streets, was put up for sale as part of the disposal of the assets of Clico Guyana, after its collapse.

Since the building had been constructed several years ago, it was never occupied. Cracks are evident on its exterior, while the condition of the interior is unclear.

Meanwhile, after a glitch last month in the date stated for the opening of bids for the supply and delivery of antiretroviral drugs to the Ministry of Health, they were opened yesterday.

Four companies submitted bids: The New Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation (US$755,931.10 equivalent to GYD$154,965,875.50); I.D.A (US$602,716.34 or GYD$123,556,849.70); Head Internal Incorporation of Guyana (US$705,482.48 or GYD$144,623,908.40) and the International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA) (US$685,893.40 or GYD $140,608,027).
