T&T money lender shot dead

(Trinidad Express) A Rio Claro money lender was gunned down on Tuesday night during a financial transaction that went sour, police believe.

McNeish Lum Young, 33, was shot and killed in front of his home at Libertville Road. Police are searching for two men who they believe were known to the deceased.

Lum Young was found with gunshot wounds around 8.20 p.m. by his wife, Sadica. She told police she left her husband watching television and went to the back of the house to lock a gymnasium. Minutes later she heard five gunshots and found him near the roadway bleeding from wounds to his head and chest.

Twenty-seven hundred dollars was found scattered around the body. Police said the killers fled on foot.

Relative Pretesh Doolarchan, who spoke on behalf of the family, said: “The crime rate is ridiculous. We see it on the news all the time. Only when it happens to your loved ones, then you feel it.”

Lum Young was the father of a four-year-old daughter, Sierra. Homicide Division (South) and Eastern Division police are continuing investigations.
