Fleeing robber nabbed after Pouderoyen accident

One of the three men, who tried to rob a Chinese restaurant at Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, on Thursday, was nabbed after he was injured when a motorcycle he stole ended up in an accident.

Police said the robber, who received injuries to one of his legs, is now in custody, after being treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital and later the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

According to police, sometime around 7:30pm, on Thursday, three men, one armed with a gun, entered the restaurant of Zhang Man Bang, 37 and held him up. The man, however, managed to escape and raised an alarm.

The three perpetrators then ran out of the restaurant and one of them made good his escape in an awaiting car. His two accomplices, meanwhile, held up Lennox Roberts, also of Anna Catharina, and took away his motor cycle.

The two fleeing men subsequently became involved in an accident at Pouderoyen, police added.
