T&T robbery leaves one dead, one wounded

(Trinidad Express) An early morning attack yesterday left one man dead and another man, a foreigner, being treated for gunshot wounds.

Percelle Plouden, 38, of Maraval died after he was shot in the leg.

Nicholas Wahli, 49, of Switzerland was nursing gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen yesterday following the shooting.

It was around 1.30 a.m. yesterday that Plouden a salesman with Nestle Ltd and Wahli, a consultant at the company, left a hotel at Chase Village along with two other men, police said.

They were walking toward their vehicle a short distance away when a car stopped and one of the occupants pointed a gun at them.

The four friends were ordered to lie on the ground and they were robbed.

As the assailants sped off, a gunman opened fire on the group.

Plouden was struck on the leg.

He bled to death while being taken by his friends to the Chaguanas Health Facility.

Wahli was treated at the Central health institution and transferred to the Mount Hope Hospital.

He remains a patient there.

Sgt Maharaj of the South Homicide Division and Sgt Boxer of the Freeport Police Station are continuing investigations.
