Car uproots utility pole at Rahaman’s Turn

A car yesterday morning crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of the roads near Rahaman’s Turn causing a power outage along the East Bank of Demerara.

Police told Stabroek News that the car, a silver Toyota Premio PNN 7896 was impounded at the Ruimveldt Police Station. Its occupants left the scene and are needed to assist with investigations.

In photo the car is being towed into the police station compound.

According to reports, four persons were travelling in the vehicle which was speeding eastward when it lost control and slammed into the pole rooting it out of the ground. The occupants who appeared injured exited, stopped another vehicle and headed towards Georgetown.

As a result of the accident  wires and telephone cables were lying across both roadways causing traffic to move at snail’s pace.

Guyana Power and Light and Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company technicians were up to yesterday afternoon working to repair the damage.
