Girls rescued from prostitution ring flee from shelter

The four girls rescued from a suspected prostitution ring over a week ago have all “escaped” from the Mahaica Help and Shelter Unit and Minister of Human Services, Jennifer Webster yesterday expressed frustration saying that some of the underage girls choose to be involved in such activities.

President of the Women’s Miners Organisation, Simona Broomes told Stabroek News that she was notified by one of the girls yesterday afternoon that the final two “escaped” on Saturday evening though one of the girls said that they had warned a supervisor and were told to leave.
