Major Bajan employer whittles down staff significantly

(Barbados Nation) One of Barbados’  highest employing companies has gradually whittled down its staff from 1 200 to just over 250 in the last two years, with plans to lay off the others by the end of next month.

NCO Financial Services, a branch of the global collection agency headquartered in Philadelphia, United States, may be closing its doors with plans to relocate in Manila, Philippines, according to staff members.

One staffer, who asked to remain anonymous, told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that the layoffs had started within the last two years since the company opened with a complement of 1 200 plus employees in 2005.

“We are being made redundant. There has been no explanation, but it seems as if they are closing shop,” he stated.
