Boys in Norton St brawl discharged from hospital

The boys who were involved in a violent confrontation which resulted in one being stabbed to the neck and the other chopped twice to the head, have been treated and discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

On Sunday last, 16-year-old Devon Edinboro, of Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, was reportedly tackled by an older male, said to be in his late teens or early 20s and only identified as Akeem, at Norton Street, Lodge. The boys were both picked up by the police who were in the area at the time and taken to the hospital. The father of the 16-year-old, whose name is also Devon Edinboro, yesterday told Stabroek News that doctors advised that the boy be admitted for one night so that his condition can be monitored. He suffered a single stab wound to the neck.  “He is alright now. He is speaking, eating and drinking… the throat ain’t really affecting that,” the man said, noting that he was well enough to be discharged yesterday.

He added that his son’s assailant, who was chopped two times, was discharged from the hospital the same evening.

Edinboro stated that the police have since inquired whether or not the family is interested in pursuing the matter but he has declined.

“How I see it, is that both parties were wrong and both of them were injured so we decided to drop the matter, it doesn’t make sense,” he posited.

“I think right now I’ll just try to get him more involved in other activities because I feel like he got too much idle time,” he further stated.
