No breakthrough in probe of Diamond man’s execution

Police are still to make a breakthrough in the investigation of the murder of Leonard Mahadeo, the man executed at the Soca Paradise Bar in Eccles in March.

Mahadeo, 38, known as ‘Lenny,’ of Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara and Soesdyke, was alone at the Soca Paradise Bar in Eccles when he came under fire from two masked men, both armed with what appeared to be assault rifles on the night of March 16. It was reported that he did not scream for help although he saw the gunmen as they entered the shop armed.

Crime chief Seelall Persaud said that even as investigations continue there have been no new developments.

When Stabroek News on Monday visited his former Diamond residence, it appeared that the house had been vacant for a long period. One of his close relatives, who requested anonymity after being contacted, stated that she does not want to comment. She asked to be left alone as her family still struggles to cope without Mahadeo, the sole breadwinner.

Two associates of the man were held by the police but subsequently released.
