Two men remanded over West Bank fatal crashes

Two men were yesterday remanded to prison on causing death by dangerous driving charges at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrates’ Court following two separate accidents on the West Bank of Demerara over the weekend.

Imran Neeshan of Bella Dam, WBD, was charged with causing the death of 52-year-old fish vendor Baldeo ‘Painter’ Mohan of Lot 33 Doctor Dam, La Grange, WBD, on Saturday last, while 30-year-old Imtiaz Ramsarran of Stanleytown, WBD, was charged with causing the death of Prem ‘Kedar’ Sukhdeo, 54, of Lot 30 Patentia, WBD, on Sunday last.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that Mohan succumbed to multiple injuries and a broken neck while Sukhdeo also succumbed to his injuries. Both men will be buried today.

The two accused who were remanded to prison will have to  return to court before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on May 25.
