Midwife Goolghar honoured by GPHC and Enmore Polyclinic

The management of the Georgetown Public Hospital and the staff of the Enmore Polyclinic yesterday honoured one of its long serving nurses, Moharajia Goolghar, a midwife, as part of its International Nurses’ Week of activities.

Nurse Goolghar has been in the nursing profession for forty-one years and has been attached to the Enmore Polyclinic for close to a decade. She continues to work diligently with her patients, a press release from the GPHC said.

She was presented with a plaque and other tokens of appreciation, both from hospital management and the staff of the clinic.

The clinic culminates its week of activities today and  Dr. Nichole Nedd–Jerrick will engage her staff in a moment of ‘Reflection’ to discuss ways to further improve the already outstanding service that they provide to the community, the release stated.

Enmore Polyclinic provides a range of services including dental, dressings, care for all chronic illnesses, foot care, VCT testing and counseling, among others.

The team also goes out into the community to see and treat patients who are not ambulant and therefore unable to visit the clinic on a regular basis.

According to the release, this was also done during the nurses’ week of activities and the members of the community expressed great appreciation for these efforts and genuine interest by the staff in ensuring the well-being of all members of that community and bordering ones as well.

There is a medical social worker attached to the polyclinic who goes into the community and assists patients and other members with securing their NIS benefits, jobs for those over age 55 years, cases for Legal Aid and she collaborates with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport to engage minors in various training programmes.

The hospital management expressed congratulations and thanks to the hard working staff of the Enmore Polyclinic while it seeks to ensure that the other health centres which fall under its purview are recognized similarly for their service, the release concluded.
