CARICOM SG to pay official visit to Trinidad

CARICOM Secretary-General,  Ambassador Irwin LaRocque will pay an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago from today until Wednesday.

This will be the sixth in the series of official visits to member states, which the Secretary-General has undertaken since assuming office last August, a press release from the CARICOM Secretariat at Turkeyen said.

During these visits, the Secretary-General meets with various stakeholders in the integration process, including Heads of Government, Cabinet Ministers, the private sector, youth, civil society and the media. He also visits community institutions based in the member states.

During this visit, Ambassador LaRocque will meet with Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar and will also hold talks with Minister of Trade and Industry Stephen Cadiz and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications, Dr Surujrattan Rambachan.

While in Trinidad and Tobago, the Secretary-General will also attend the meeting of Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of the private sector of the Caribbean and Central America being held at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre tomorrow as well as address an event on Wednesday  hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

In addition, Ambassador LaRocque will visit the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS) as well as the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), the release concluded.
