Jamaica man charged with wife’s murder

(Jamaica Gleaner) The St. Catherine Police have now charged the man accused of fatally stabbing his common-law wife.

Marvin James, 27, of a St. Andrew address has been charged with the May 5 murder of 48-year-old Charmain Douglas of Mount View, St. Catherine.  James who was charged last night is accused of causing Douglas’ death by repeatedly stabbing her.

Shortly after the killing, James was held in Clarendon.  According to reports, he drove away from the scene but crashed along a section of Highway 2000 as he tried to escape.  James was taken to the May Pen Hospital in Clarendon, where he was admitted.

Investigations, by the Spanish Town police led to his arrest in hospital.  James was later transferred to the Spanish Town lock-up on suspicion of murder.
