Youth remanded over gunpoint robbery of pastor and wife in church

A repeat offender in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court found himself before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton again yesterday and was remanded on two indictable charges of robbery under arms.

Lawrence Allicock, also known as Leonard Allicock, appeared before the magistrate accused of robbing two persons of their jewellery worth close to $1,860,000. The court heard that on May 9 at the Faith Miracle Ministries church at Howes Street, Charlestown, the accused, while being armed with a gun, robbed Pastor Kenrick Corbin and his wife Faith Corbin of a quantity of gold and diamond jewellery.

Allicock made an application for bail although he was not allowed to plead to the indictable charges. He stated that he is 19 years old and unemployed and resides at lot 21 Independence Boulevard, Albouystown.

Police Prosecutor Tracymay Gittens objected to his bail application on the grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.

The magistrate in delivering her decision on bail asked the accused to present his birth certificate at his next court appearance since in a previous matter he had given his name as Leonard Allicock and yesterday the charge had his name recorded as Lawrence Allicock.
Allicock was remanded will return to court tomorrow.
