US-based Guyanese shot, chopped in Bloomfield robbery

A US-based man is in a serious condition after being shot and chopped today in a robbery at Bloomfield, Corentyne.

Police today said that three men armed with a gun and a cutlass about 02:00 hrs today at Bloomfield, Corentyne Berbice, robbed Narvindra Seepaul age 24 years, a businessman of $50,000 and a cellular phone; Jainarine Singh, age 48 years a cane harvester of $40,000 and a cellular phone and during the process shot and chopped Jafar Mohamed age 49 years a Guyanese who now resides in the USA.

Police say that the victims were about to enter their Lot 4 ‘B’ Bloomfield home when the suspects pounced upon them.

Mohamed was shot in his left thigh and chopped on his right hand. He was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital for medical attention and was later transferred to the G.P.H.C.

His condition is regarded as serious, police said.
