$3,000 fine, community service for ganja offence

A man was yesterday fined $3,000 and ordered to do three months of community service after he confessed to having in his possession one gram of cannabis before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Delmar Browne was yesterday ordered to pay the $3,000  fine along with three months community service after he told the court that he had in his possession on Wednesday one  gram of cannabis  which he smokes, but not on a regular basis.

After hearing his side of the story, the magistrate imposed the penalty on the man.
