Trinidad trucker stabbed to death with louvre pane

(Trinidad Express) Days after Jason Khadoo returned to what his family described as an abusive relationship, he was stabbed in the chest at his home by a relative.

His death was witnessed by his two children, ages two and six, and another eight-year-old child.

Khadoo, a truck driver of Joe Drive, Santa Flora was stabbed with a louvre pane during an argument with the woman on Friday night. Another relative said it was not the first time they had heard arguments coming from the house and although they had offered advice in the past, yesterday’s end result was inevitable.

“They were not living nice…She used to abuse him, she was the aggressor (but) he thought he could have made it work,” his father Utuse Khadoo said. Jason, 32, was in a common-law relationship and lived near his father’s home for the past five years.

The elder Khadoo said two weeks ago his son was planassed on the back with a cutlass. He left the house and was staying with his sister, but then he returned three days later. Khadoo said his son was a “shy” person and refused to make any reports to the police of the beatings he had faced.

Utuse Khadoo said he retired to bed around 11 p.m. when one of his sons told him there was an altercation taking place next door. Khadoo said before he could reach the house, he received a phone call telling him that his son had been stabbed.

He said he went next door and saw his first-born son on the living room floor, covered in blood.

“( A woman) was bawling, ‘J boy, I sorry, I didn’t mean to do it’….My nephew was kneeling at the side of him with a cloth on his chest… I didn’t see any movements,” he said.

The father of six said when the cloth was removed, he saw a hole in his son’s chest.

He said cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was attempted but his son was already dead. His body was later ordered removed by the District Medical Officer.

Police officers said it was around 11.20 p.m. that Khadoo had an argument with a 38-year-old woman.

He was pushed against a set of louvre panes which smashed and a piece of the glass was used to stab Khadoo in the chest, the report said.

An unemployed mother of eight and grandmother of two was yesterday assisting police with investigations.
