Mon Repos market vendor stabbed in robbery

A Mon Repos Market vendor was stabbed five times about her body when two armed men invaded her home on Saturday evening, escaping with an undisclosed sum of money after assaulting her family.

Chitwantie Naraine, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

When Stabroek News visited the home last evening, a man who identified himself as Michael Parmeswar, the woman’s worker, said it was around 7:55 pm when he and a male relative of Naraine, were on the bridge, getting into a vehicle to go to a nearby shop.

“We went going in the van and Romel was already sitting in the driver seat when this man come up and put a gun to his head then when I going around another one grab me,” he explained.
Parmeswar was unable to speak further with this newspaper but bore visible marks of violence and complained about pain experienced in the head after being hit. Sources told Stabroek News that the intruders gun-butted relatives who were at home at the time and stabbed Naraine five times.

The police, up to press time, had not released any information on the matter.
