Bids invited for hinterland airstrips rehab

The Ministry of Public Works is inviting bids for the rehabilitation of several hinterland airstrips.

A notice in the Wednesday edition of the Guyana Chronicle newspaper invited tenders for the rehabilitation of airstrips at Ekereku Bottom and Imbaimadai, in Region Seven as well as the Lethem airstrip in Region Nine. Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the Procurement Act of 2003.

The notice stated that the bidders must meet certain qualifications.

The bidder must have substantially completed a project of a similar nature in the hinterland at a value of $50M to qualify for one of the three projects.

At the same time, bidders who wish to carry out two of the three projects must have completed works to the tune of $100M or $150M for all three projects.
The bidder must also have an average turnover of at least $75M to qualify for any one of the projects, $150M for any two or $200M for all three projects.
