GRA set to automate sale of liquor, trade licences

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is currently taking steps to automate its sale of liquor and trade and miscellaneous licences through its Regional Integrated Offices countrywide.

In a press release, the GRA said its Regional Integrated Offices are currently processing applications for these licences in Corriverton, New Amsterdam, Linden, Anna Regina, Bartica and Parika and at the Licence Revenue Office (LRO) at Smyth and Princes streets in Georgetown.

Currently, the sale of trade and miscellaneous licences is done at some Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs) for the GRA; however, effective September 1, it will be compulsory for holders of these licences, except in regions eight and nine, to visit the nearest GRA office to renew or purchase them. RDCs in regions Eight and Nine will continue to process the trade and miscellaneous licences manually.

In Region Four, persons will still need to process their applications for new licences and the renewal of trade and miscellaneous licences at the LRO. The GRA is currently working with the Ministry of Local Government to ensure a smooth transition of the service. As implementation draws nearer, the agency will increase public awareness. For more information the public can call the agency at telephone number 227-606.
