Stabbed Non Pareil man for surgery

Damion Moore, who was stabbed twice by his cousin on Thursday at their Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara home is recovering in the male surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and is expected to undergo another surgery.

Moore, who was stabbed twice to his abdomen by his 18-year-old cousin, told Stabroek News yesterday that he is experiencing severe pain and shortness of breath when he speaks for too long. He said that the doctor informed him that one of the stab wounds is an inch away from his heart. In addition to the stab wounds, Moore told this newspaper that he was also cuffed to his mouth and sustained a burst bottom lip. The accused remains on the run.

In relating the attack on him, Moore stated that he was in his bedroom when he heard his cousin arguing with his grandmother about food, since he was not satisfied with the money given to him after he went to uplift her pension. He stated that the accused responded disrespectfully and he tried to calm him down. Despite being told by Moore to behave himself, the young man continued with his behaviour and he asked him to leave the house, Moore said.

The injured man related that as he was coming out of his bedroom, the young man went into the kitchen, picked up a knife and pushed Moore onto a chair and a scuffle ensued.

It was during the scuffle that Moore was stabbed. Despite his wounds, Moore stated that he managed to run behind his assailant, who fled.

From his hospital bed yesterday, Moore said that he has to undergo another surgery, following one that was performed yesterday morning.
