Fine and one month

A man who had one gramme of cannabis in his possession was on Friday fined $3,000 and ordered to do one month of community service when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

Andrew Khan accepted that on August 1 at Georgetown he had in his possession one gramme of cannabis.

The prosecution stated that on the day in question, the police were on patrol in the vicinity of Albouystown when they saw the defendant in a yard acting in a suspicious manner. The court further heard that the observation made by the lawmen led them to conduct a search on Khan’s person and the illegal substance was found concealed in a Ziploc bag in his pants pockets.
