Woman denies abusive language and throwing missiles charges

A 33-year-old woman accused of using abusive language and throwing missiles at two other women was on Tuesday placed on $20,000 bail when she appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

The allegation against Ermie Roberts is that on August 12 at Georgetown she made use of abusive language to Merlene Noel and Anastacia Esbrand, resulting in a breach of the peace.

On the same day also, Roberts is accused of throwing missiles to the annoyance of the two women.

The resident of 184 Waterloo Street, Georgetown,  denied the charges when they were read to her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

No facts of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

Roberts who was unrepresented by counsel made an application for bail and the prosecution had no objections.

She was then granted a total of $20,000 bail for both charges.

Her matter will be called again on September 25 at Court One for report and fixture.
