ACME photo studio for sale

The ACME photo studio on Regent Street, one of the oldest businesses in the city, is up for sale.

The owners of the property have advertised the 21,000 square feet property located at the corners of Regent and King streets for sale on the Stabroek News website for $100M.

The photo studio was established in November 1935 by Ashraf  Ali as a small commercial business in the line of photography. The photo studio was one of the first in the Caribbean to produce colour photographs. It was also one of the first entities in the country to show motion pictures.

The entity has grown over the years to the state where it specialises in non-traditional wedding photography, the storage of photographs on various devices as well as printing photographs.

The business also does photographic restoration and was among the first in the country to introduce passport-sized photographs.

It is currently owned by a third generation of the Ali family and has a staff of more than 50 persons.
