PNCR mourns passing of Selwyn Felix

The PNCR has expressed its sadness at the death of former President of the Postal and Telecommunications Workers Union (PTWU) Selwyn Felix, whom it remembers as an amiable man who was passionate about workers rights.

In a press release, the party said Felix was also a veteran trade unionist and also served as Vice-President and Treasurer of the Guyana Trade Union Congress. He died on August 20 in the USA.

“Felix entered the labour movement in the pre-independence period and had a good grasp of the interests of the working people. His own union-PTWU-had come to prominence under the legendary Mr Andrew Jackson,” the release said. Felix served as president for 25 years, and provided to be a worthy successor who consolidated and augmented Jackson’s pioneering work, it added.

The party also extended its condolences to Felix’s relatives.
