Usain Bolt likely to play for Manchester United next year

(Jamaica Gleaner) The BBC is reporting that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says Jamaican Usain Bolt could play for the club in a charity match next year.

“He’s a bit of a character and a big United fan,” Ferguson is reported to have said of Bolt who has often joked about playing for the team.

The sprint super star revealed in a recent documentary that because of his love for the sport he has even defied the instructions of his coach to play with friends during his athletic training season.

Bolt, this year successfully defended his 100m, 200m Olympic titles and was also a member of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team that struck gold and set a new world record.

“The people from these small islands, like Dwight Yorke from Trinidad & Tobago, they all play football and he probably played at school level or youth level or something like that. It’d be nice to get him up here, I think it’ll be good,” said Sir Alex.
